Thursday the 16th:
Got to St. George about 4. Checked in to our "apartment" and went to the Temple. We did an endowment session and loved it. We saw the oldest sealing room in the church!! It is just off the Celestial Room- both were phenomenally beautiful! We went for a run later that evening and ended up at Cafe Rio for dinner.
Friday the 17th:
We slept in and eventually made our way to Rockville- such a cute town! We were on tour way to Grafton when we stopped at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast called "The Desert Thistle." We got a private tour while asking for directions! A sweet sweet couple owns it that moved from South Jordan about 3 years ago. Totally remodeled and pretty cheap in comparison to Anniversary Inn! It even has a pool in back! With only 4 rooms to choose from- everything is exceptionally private and tranquil. Here is their website for more information: thedesertthistle.com. We then found Grafton. How fun! An old ghost town and also the site of part of the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid! We had a blast there.
We went on to Springdale just down the Highway. We were going to go back to St. George after we stopped at a rock shop, but a lady heading out of town gave us their week pass to Zions National Park! This simple moment completely changed our schedule and the outcome of our day. We climbing one of the most talked about hikes in the park: Angels Landing! 1500 vertical feet later- we were there. It was strenuous, but oh so worth it!!!
Beautiful beautiful! After this, we went to Weeping Rock. We saw 3 deer at the head of the trail and then a buck up the trail a ways. It was so neat to have them so close and not scatter off! Weeping rock literally has water "weeping" through it. There have been tests done that prove the water to be older than 1400 years old! So, we decided to try and catch some of the dripping water in our water bottles. LOL Brent said it tasted bad, but I didn't notice a taste... So, judge it for yourself... LOL When we got back from that, we caught the bus at about 8 o'clock and went home via the freezer section of Harmon's. Phew we were tired!
Saturday the 18th:
Slept in again... surprised? Ha! We ate and went to the Brigham Young summer home, and then the St. George Tabernacle. I found out that my great-great-grandpa was the overseer of the building of the Tabernacle and the builder of the spiral staircases just inside the entrance. Pretty cool! Elder Mark Eubank even gave us our tour there!
We then walked up the street to have Brent's picture taken with President Brigham Young (as shown here:)
and ate at the Pizza Factory on our way out of town. Holy moly! That place is SOOO good! If you are down in St. George- you just HAVE to go there- c'mon! Anyhow, that is our trip. We had a wonderful time but of course, we were super happy to get home to our li'l Ashton boy. ;)
